Obedience Classes

Our obedience classes are group classes with no more than 6 dogs in any given class. The classes are 6 weeks long. Start dates available on our Calendar. We offer 3 levels of obedience training (4 for puppies) that follows the APDT Canine Life and Social Skills Curriculum. We want you to have a dog trained for YOUR lifestyle and home. We do not focus excessively on tedious competition style obedience exercises, rather we practice skills for real life situations your family dog encounters on a daily basis!

  • This six week class is appropriate for dogs under 4 months old. We focus heavily on puppy social skills, socialization to new sights, sounds, and experiences, and the foundational obedience cues that will give you the control you need to survive puppyhood! This class follows the Canine Life and Social Skills High School Curriculum, and it also meets the requirements for AKC STAR Puppy!

    Things learned:

    Wait at the door

    Come & Leash up calmly

    Attentive loose leash walking

    Meet and Greet!

  •  Are you SERIOUS about making your dog the best behaved dog they can be and to have a dog that impresses family, friends, and is complimented by strangers in public? Or do you dream of your dog’s potential as a therapy dog or other assistance dog? Take your dog from zero to hero with our exclusive Intensive Obedience program!. We are taking ONLY 5 dogs for an exclusive group class opportunity that will only be offered twice yearly. This program includes:

    5 months of training classes

Specialized, high criteria, and individualized feedback

detailed homework training plans (including guidance on how to easily maintain your dog’s progress during the holiday breaks)

access to virtual trainer feedback any day of the week

Classmates committed to serious training and making their dog the best they can be

AKC VHMA-A/P title testing (after successful completion of unit 1)

AKC Canine Good Citizen testing (after unit 4)

AKC CGC-A, CGC-U testing (conclusion of unit 5)

Intensive obedience will be more demanding, have higher criteria, more detailed homework, and much more finely tuned trainer feedback in order to ensure you and your dog are meeting your goals. This level of training, feedback, and constructive criticism can be overwhelming to those in standard obedience classes, so this class is only for students ready to make a serious (yet extremely rewarding!) commitment to building a lasting bond with their dog and helping them be the best dog they can be.If you make this commitment you WON’T regret it.

Note: We do not certify therapy dogs, testing must be done by an accepted organization of your choice. We also do not certify service dogs as there is no universal certifying body or standard for service dogs in the USA, and the ADA protects the right to self train. This class is simply the obedience foundations for impeccably behaved dogs in public spaces.

Agility Classes

Our agility classes are taught by amazing guest trainer, Suzi Johnson. Suzi has many years of experience training and competing in agility, and still competes at the Master Level with her dog Vivid. Our program is designed to require no previous experience. We want to facilitate new handlers getting involved in this sport, and finding new fun ways to interact with their dogs!

Board and Train

Planning a boarding stay, but don’t want your dog to lose the skills you worked so hard to instill in them? Or maybe you have a specific training goal you want your dog to work on while you are away? Add training sessions to your stay! When boarding at our Monticello location, training add-ons are available in 1 hour sessions or 30 minute sessions! Simply add on the board and train option to your stay while booking, and select the amount of sessions you prefer! Alternatively, if you are interested in this program, go ahead and click on the “email trainer” link and ask any questions you have!

  • 1 hour session - $60

    30 minute session - $35

If you book 5 or more sessions, it includes a FREE follow up visit with our trainer to ensure the skills transfer to home!

Sessions can be booked for a little as just once during your dog's stay, every other day, or every third day!

Please note, we do not offer sessions on the first/last day of your dog's stay as pick up/drop off times may not be conducive to scheduling. This is accounted for by our booking system when you register!

  • No. I believe aggression/reactivity is a complex emotional problem that is best tackled with the direct hands-on participation of the dog’s owner. While I could work on behavioral problems with your dog on my own, it is likely those skills would transfer very poorly to home.

However, I WILL address stress/ separation anxiety in a board and train, if you believe it would be beneficial to your dog and help them tolerate their boarding stay better!

  • If you book 5 or more sessions, a free follow up session is included for you and your dog to come and work on the skills learned with my guidance. I will go over the skills learned, and show you how to continue working on them with your dog.

No matter how many sessions are booked, a daily video summary and text or email update is included with a description of the skills worked on!

  • Yes! I record the entirety of each session (when applicable. Outdoor sessions or sessions including walking through the barkery/store/daycare are not recorded due to lack of space for a camera set up) then edit down and label the relevant parts so you can see a 3-5 minute clip that gives a summary of each skill taught in a session. I also include a written summary via email each day. The picture to the left is a screengrab from a previous boarding client’s summary video.

In-Home Training

Our trainer offers home visits to meet the needs of dogs that might struggle coming in person to our facility, or dogs that have specific training needs in the home. This tends to be the best option that struggle with anxiety or reactivity/aggression. This also includes dogs that have environmental related needs such as car-chasing, yard recall, running the fence line, containment in unfenced rural areas, or concerns related to other animals or livestock on the property.

Jenna only takes a limited amount of behavioral cases in any given month, and scheduling is handled by contacting her directly via email or phone. Click the “email trainer” button to send an email and get scheduled for a consult!
